Beat the heat of summers Summers have different meanings for different people. Someone living in cold and wet weather absolutely loves summer. On the other hand, someone who lives in tropical heat is likely to find the same summer heat oppressive. Mostly people; living in areas where a major portion of the year has high temperatures usually have an air conditioner installed. A modern solution is to buy portable air conditioners. Working principle of a portable air conditioner is pretty similar to a traditional fix type air conditioners. You send the warm air into the air conditioner and there through the function of evaporator air is cooled and recirculated through the room. Major difference is that usually the fixed type air conditioners take warm air from outside cool it and then exchange it with warmer air present in the room.

Portable air conditioner works on the similar principle but with minor difference. As it does not have any link or method of acquiring air from outside. It takes air from inside the room, cools it over the evaporator and pushes it back into room. This means that when it pushes the hot exhaust air out of the room. Amount of air present in the room is decreasing all the time. It results in a buildup of pressure from outside the room to wards inside, it means that warm air from outside the room forces its way inside the room. This influx of warm air reduces the efficiency of cooling system. It means that room that you are using the portable air conditioner does not cool as well as the rooms with fixed type air conditioners. There is a solution that some of the portable air conditioners us two pips instead of one. One is for the exhaust of hot air while other is for the intake of fresh air.

For this and other reasons you have to select a portable air conditioner with slightly higher power ratings then you will need for a fixed air conditioners in the same space. Another thing that you have to factor in to your calculations is. Smaller portable units are much more expensive than similar fixed units are. Therefore, they are only viable if you have to move that often enough or you are going to use that unit in different places at different times. There is one slight problem with moving your portable airconditioner too often. They supply you with sheet that you can cut according to the size of your window. Than you have to cut a hole of about 5” in that sheet for the exhaust pipe. It means that when you move your portable air conditioner to a new place. You will have to move the whole assembly. If the room that, you moved your portable air conditioner to, do not have the exactly same size of window as the previous room, you will have to get a new sheet or do some alteration. Still, a portable air conditioner can make your life lot more comfortable.
